Description:
Lee Nez is a nightwalker - a Navajo vampire. He's also a New Mexico state police officer. Investigating smugglers who are bringing in jewels and silver from Mexico and who have killed two cops, Lee is teamed once again with sexy FBI agent Diane Lopez, who knows of and is attracted to Lee's true nature. Lee has been alone for decades, since the death of his human wife, but finds new pleasure working - and living - in partnership with Diane. Lee and Diane discover that the silver smugglers are Navajo shapeshifters known as skinwalkers. Now the vampire and the FBI agent have a problem - skinwalkers cannot be safely kept in prison, even if Lee and Diane's superiors can be made to believe in werewolves in the first place. No, there is only one solution - Lee and Diane must wipe out the whole pack. To Lee's surprise, one of the skinwalkers turns out to be a relative, a woman who reminds him startlingly of his dead wife. Where will her loyalty lie - with the pack that has taken her in or with a cousin with whom she shares bonds of blood and clan? Complicating matters, Lee is being stalked by a pair of vampire assassins. Lee killed the leader of their clan, and the survivors are bent on revenge. Blood for blood, as the saying goes. But once again, divided loyalties play a role, as the younger vampire confides to Lee her wish to change her evil ways. Or is she just saying that to get Lee to lower his guard?
